Manisha Kalyan’s goal of the eighth minute was the only bright spot in the humiliating loss.
India had some positives going into the next game thanks to Kalyan’s equalizer and Aditi Chauhan, goalkeeper on a night where the hosts were in great form.

The hosts started off well and took the lead when defender Daiana’s long pass found skipper Debinha.Chauhan saved his initial attempt, but the Indian custodian couldn’t stop the rebound.

Seven minutes later, the Indian women responded with a thrilling counter-attack.Manisha grabbed the ball from her own half and ran the length the field before finishing in the far corner.

Manisha had another chance in the 26th minute, but her shot was blocked.

Brazil created better chances and in the 36th minutes, they surged into the lead.

Ariadina Borges ran down right-wing and found Duda using a cutback. The ball bounced off and Giovana Costa was there to put it in the net.

Brazil led the game with a quick-fire second half win.In the 52nd minute, Ary made it 1-3 when she cut in from her left and curled it past Aditi in the far corner.Kerolin Ferraz grabbed a pass from substitute Geyse ferreira and smashed the ball into the net.

Geyse joined the fray when a blocked shot from near the box’s edge fell to her feet. She made no mistakes from close range in the 76th minutes.Ary scored her second match point five minutes later when she tapped in a rebound from Formiga’s save.

Thomas Dennerby, India’s head coach, was impressed by Manisha’s goal.He called it “one the best on a football pitch”.It is a high-quality goal.He said that it gave them a boost after we conceded early and that allowed them to come back.”

Dennerby felt that India could have done better when clearing the ball.”We didn’t concede because we were out in position. He said that there were some weak clearances and that we needed to be stronger with them because it is impossible to afford it against such high-quality teams.”

Overall, the 62 year-old stressed the importance of taking the positives from a fixture against one the most elite teams in the world.

“Losing Brazil is not something to be ashamed of.We take the positive things with us.It was a great experience for them, and that will help them in the upcoming games,” said he.
