Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi stated in an earlier statement that it was important to take all necessary joint measures to protect the security and safety citizens of Iraq and prevent any Iraqis from being victims of human trafficking networks.

Al-Kadhimi said that the Iraqi government was working to return all stranded Iraqis involuntarily.

The Foreign Ministry announced earlier this month that direct flights to Belarus would be suspended to address the crisis and protect Iraqi migrants from trafficking gangs.

Since August, thousands of migrants from war-torn Middle East countries have been stranded at border between Belarus and its neighbours, trying to enter EU territory.

However, there were more migrants who arrived on the Belarusian side at the border with Poland earlier in the month.

Last week, clashes broke out between Polish soldiers firing water cannons and migrants throwing rocks.Similar tensions were also witnessed at the border of Belarus with Latvia and Lithuania.
