K’taka to provide bananas and eggs to more than 14 lakh malnourished students

Bengaluru, Nov 24, : The Karnataka government decided to provide boiled egg and bananas to school children in government-aided schools aged between six and fifteen years old who are suffering from malnutrition and anemia.
The program will start on December 1.

This circular was issued by the Department of Public Instruction on Wednesday.Students from six north Karnataka district will be eligible for the program as they are at the top of the chart of deficiencies.

Beneficiaries would include 14,44,322 students who are studying in the first to eighth grades in Bidar, Raichur and Kalaburagi.The program will run until March 2022, after it began in December.

Bananas will be provided for those who don’t eat eggs.For four months, each student will receive 10 eggs/bananas every month.

74% of students in Yadgir district are suffering from anemia and malnutrition.

In Kalaburagi, 72.4 percent in Ballary, 72.3 percent in Ballary, 70.7 Percent in Koppal and 70.6 Percent in Raichur, 70.7 Percent in Koppal, 70.6percent in Raichur, 70.6percent in Raichur, 69.1percent in Bidar, 68% of Viayapura students are all found to be malnourished.
