New Delhi, Nov 24, : , Russia’s single-dose Sputnik Light Covid-19 vaccination will be available in India by December 2021, according to Kirill Dmitriev (CEO, Russian Direct Investment Fund, RDIF), in a webinar. The Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI), granted Dr Reddy’s Laboratory Limited permission to conduct phase-3 bridging tests in September.
According to earlier reports, the government allowed the export of Russia’s single-dose Covid-19 vaccine Sputnik light domestically manufactured.Sputnik Light is identical to component-1 of Russia’s vaccine Sputnik V, which was approved for emergency use by India’s Drug Regulator in May.
The Webinar featured the RDIF, which also presented real-world data from the Ministry of Health of the Republic of San Marino regarding the Russian Sputnik V vaccination.It showed that it is 80 percent effective against coronavirus infection within 6 to 8 months of administration.
Sputnik V’s efficacy for 6-8 months is significantly higher than the officially published efficacy for mRNA vaccines, according to a statement from Sputnik.
This data is based upon the number of Covid infection in San Marino in November 2021.
The data used to calculate effectiveness were taken from more than 18,600 people who had been fully vaccinated against Sputnik V at least 5 months prior to November.
