Fortis Memorial Research Institute, Gurugram, had a team of doctors who used robotic surgery to help them prevent blood loss during the surgery. This helped them to recover faster and shortened hospital stays.

According to the hospital, the surgery was completed in five hours.

Obesity is often linked to uterine cancer.

This can pose a challenge for surgical management.Patients undergoing open surgery are more likely to experience complications such as difficulty intubation, respiratory, and cardiac problems, a longer postoperative recovery, and wound breakdown.

Robot-assisted minimally invasive surgery reduces these complications and also allows for quick recovery,” Dr Rama Joshi (Principal Director and HOD, Department of Gynae Oncology and Robotic Surgery) stated in the statement.

The patient had been through a number of health problems and multiple surgeries over the past 15 years.

Due to high blood pressure, she had suffered a stroke in 2015.

She also had multiple surgeries, including a caesarian section in 2003 and heart surgery (Left Atria Apendage Closure in 2018 for persistent atrial fibrillation) in 2018.

In 2020, she will have her appendix (open) removed.Primary surgery is the best option for patients with uterine carcinoma.

Joshi stated that the patient was placed on liquid diet the night before surgery. He was then able to resume normal eating the next day and was discharged two days later.

Malika claimed that she was diagnosed with uterine carcinoma during the second wave of pandemic. However, due to her medical condition and travel restrictions, Malika was unable to travel to India for the surgery.

She flew to India as soon as she was able to travel without restrictions.

“I have suffered from a series of healthcare complications for over ten years and have had multiple surgeries at regular intervals.

“Thank you Dr Rama Joshi and his team of surgeons for giving me a new lease on life.FMRI’s advanced robotic techniques helped me recover faster and I was back on my feet within two days.” she stated.
