Chennai, Nov 24, : The Child Welfare Committee of Tamil Nadu (CWC) has directed Theni DSP (Theni DSP) to take action against Perumal (27) for raping a minor girl and leading to the birth a girl child. CWC has requested that the police take action under Protection of Children Against Sexual Offences (POCSO), and report it within 15 Days.
The Tamil Nadu girl, aged 14, gave birth to a baby boy on November 11.She approached the CWC to adopt the child because she didn’t have the financial means to raise it.
B.Pandiaraja, a CWC member, told mediapersons that a girl hailing from Andipatti taluk claimed that Perumal had given her food laced in sedatives and raped it.
The victim claimed that she knew she had been raped when she regained consciousness but didn’t tell her family.
The victim’s mother took her to the hospital when she became unwell.
During routine check-ups, the doctor informed her that the girl was seven weeks pregnant.
