Panaji, Nov 24, : The popular electronic dance music (EDM), Sunburn festival organised in by Percept Live, which is one of the highlights on the state’s year end tourism itinerary, will not take place this year. On Wednesday, Pramod Sawant, Chief Minister, stated that his office had rejected the Tourism Ministry’s request to allow the organization of the event.
It is scheduled for December-end in the coast state.
“We have not granted permission for Sunburn this season.
After a cabinet meeting, Sawant said that his office had already processed the file.
Manohar Ajgaonkar, Goa Tourism Minister, stated that he agreed that the festival should be organized.
However, he added that the Chief Minister’s decision was final.
“The CM makes all decisions regarding the hosting of any event.
They (CMOs) are aware of the pandemic situation as well as the SOPs.We received the file and had to send it to (CMO).
Ajgaonkar stated that the final decision is made by the CM.He also suggested that Sawant may have called keeping in mind the Covid situation.
“I felt it should be held.It was what I wanted to see happen.People should get what they want.After studying the matter, the CM has made a decision.
Without final approval from CM, I cannot make any decision.Ajgaonkar stated that the CM had not yet informed him about the file being rejected.
