Bulgaria declares a national day of mourning in memory of accident victims

Sofia, Nov 24, : The Bulgarian government declared Wednesday a national day for mourning for the 54 victims of two fatal accidents.
According to Xinhua news agency, at least 45 people were killed in a bus carrying more North Macedonia tourists crashed onto a highway 40 kilometers south of Sofia.

On Monday afternoon, nine elderly persons died in a fire at Royak, an eastern Bulgarian nursing home.

The Bulgarian government released a statement expressing its condolences for the families of the victims.

The government stated that the national flags of all state institutions will fly at half-staff.

On Tuesday, Rumen Radev, President of Bulgaria, expressed condolences for Zoran Zaev (North Macedonian Prime Minister)

After meeting with Stefan Yanev, Bulgaria’s caretaker prime minister, Zaev stated that North Macedonia would also declare a day of mourning to honor the victims of the bus accident.
