Turkey issues warrants to 112 soldiers in protest against a failed coup

Ankara, Nov 24, : , Turkey launched massive operations against 112 soldiers & former military school students in response to their suspected links with a failed coup attempt in Juli 2016.
After the investigations were completed by prosecutors from Turkey’s western Izmir, the orders were issued.

The operations covered 22 provinces according to Xinhua news agency.

So far, 76 suspects were detained.Operation are ongoing.

According to the agency, 3,338 people were detained in the scope of planned investigations by the Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office of Izmir since 2019.

Ankara blames Fethullah-Gulen, a US-based cleric, and his network for the failed coup.

Gulen denied the allegation.

Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated Tuesday that Turkey expects “strong support” for extradition of “fugitives” from the network.

Erdogan addressed a meeting of International Criminal Police Organization Istanbul via video message.

He stated that Turkey has been fighting terrorism with a determined and intense effort.
