Maruti Suzuki Toyotsu launches vehicle scrapping unit

New Delhi, Nov 23, : .Maruti Suzuki Toyotsu India began operations on Tuesday for its ‘End-of-Life Vehicles (ELVs), scrapping and recycling unit.
The facility was inaugurated on Tuesday by Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways.

The 10,993 sq.The facility covers a total area of 10,993 sq.

It was built with an investment exceeding Rs 44 crore.The facility uses “modern and technologically advanced machinery to dismantle and recycle ELVs in scientific ways”.

The company also stated that all equipment used in the facility was manufactured in India, which aligns with the vision of “Atmanirbhar Bharat”.

“I would ask Maruti and all stakeholders to create and maintain an ecosystem of similar scrapping/recycling units across the country,” Gadkari said.Gadkari stated that this would make roads safer, cleaner, and the raw material for cars cheaper.

Kenichi Ayukawa (Chair, MSTI) and Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, Maruti Suzuki India Limited stated that “Until now there was no scientific, clean, and healthy way to dispose of a car at its end of life.” MSTI uses global process methodology in order to close this gap.

“This is only the beginning.We are working with our partners to establish more ELV scrap and recycling centers in India.

MSTI was founded in 2019 as a 50/50 joint venture between Maruti Suzuki India Limited and Toyota Tsusho Group (Toyota Tsusho Corporation, TTC & Toyota Tsusho India Private Limited.(TTIPL).
