CDR Fraud Case: Ex-NIA Official Chargesheeted By CBI

New Delhi : , A former official of the National Investigation Agency was charged by the Central Bureau of Investigation for fraudulently procuring Call Detail Records (CDRs).This was to assist his friend, a former IRS officer.

The agency also arrested him in February 2018.
Federal probe agency says Jalaj Srivastava, a NIA officer, had fraudulently obtained CDRs for his friend Sansar Chaud and Avinash Kaur.

They used to reside in the same building that Srivastava lived.In 2018, the CBI arrested them in corruption cases in which they allegedly took a bribe from a Kanpur-based man.Chand was at the time Kanpur’s GST commissioner.

Kaur later asked Srivastava for the CDR number of Sudesh Sainsi.

According to the agency, Saini had no connection with any of the cases probed by NIA.

According to the complaint Srivastava, who was an ASP working between 2017-2018, abused his position to obtain the CDRs for two mobile numbers.He tried again the third attempt but it failed.

The charge sheet states that the CBI was accused of criminal conspiracy (120B), criminal breach of faith (409) and other relevant charges under the Indian Penal Code.

Jalaj Srivastava, Deputy Commandant in the BSF Imphal was arrested by the CBI for procuring CDRs from two Vodafone mobile numbers without notifying the top officers of anti-terror investigation agency.After receiving sanction from Union Home Ministry, he was arrested.
