Five held to serve liquor and flavoured muka in Gurugram after midnight

Gurugram : , Nov 20, 2005 – Five persons were detained for violating Excise Rules and serving liquor or ‘flavoured Hukka’ after the time limit was reached on Friday and Saturday.
After a team from the chief minister’s flying crew and officials with excise conducted raids on three Sector-62 liquor vendors, they arrested them and gave them challans.

According to the state excise policies, these establishments can operate from 9 a.m.until 12 a.m.

These violators could face a penalty exceeding Rs 2 lakh, according to the flying wing officers of the CM.

These were Rifil (40-50) and Western Village Garden Cafe (15-15 people), respectively.Teplus was with 15-25 guests.

The two arrested men were Aakash (both Delhi residents) and Deepak (both employees at Teplus, Satyam Nagarajan, Lakshya Randhawa and Muhammad Imran, all Western Village Garden Cafe employees.

Shekhar Sharma was the proprietor of the place, and he fled.

These establishments were penalized for not complying with excise regulations.

These outlet owners were issued challans and sent to Chandigarh headquarters for penalty.A senior taxation officer said that the department conducts frequent inspections to make sure liquor isn’t served past the specified time and that liquor sales are permitted only with permission.

He said, “Also we have established teams to perform surprise checks at every outlet to ensure that pub owners and operators aren’t violating the rules or regulations.”
