‘K’taka set up Start-up Silicon Valley Bridge

Bengaluru : , November 20th, 2010 – Karnataka’s minister for Electronics and IT, BT, and S&T.Higher Education.Skill Development.Entrepreneurship.Livelihood.C.N.Aswath Narayan announced Friday the establishment of a “Start-up Silicon Valley Bridge” to assist skilled workers of the state in working for start-ups in Silicon Valley.The US is facing a shortage of human resources.
The minister gave his final address here at the 24th Edition of the “Bengaluru Tech Summit-2021” (BTS).

He stated that the bridge would also be used as a link between the start-ups in both countries, allowing for the sharing of resources and knowledge as part of this new initiative.

He stated that the ‘Beyond Bengaluru StartUp Grid” will be established to support growth in emerging industries outside Bengaluru.

Dr.Narayan, inspired by the Indian stockbroking giant Zerodha’s success, announced the formation of a Fin-Tech Task Force to bring in investments into the financial sector.

According to him, the government will set up a Centre of Excellence and back office in Mangaluru just for this purpose.

He said that a similar entrepreneur expressed interest in setting-up an electric battery manufacturing plant at Hubballi.

Minister said that the BTS 2021 attracted more than Rs 5,000 Crore in investments following the public announcement of the new ESDM policy by the government.This was due to industries showing interest in setting-up semiconductor plants, air conditioner motors, solar cells units and an electric vehicle.

Narayan stated that a quarter of a million had lost their jobs over the past six months, and 45,000 more were preparing to apply for work.

In order to encourage the idea of industrializations going beyond Bengaluru, he said that the Karnataka government conducted the pre-events at Mangaluru and Hubballi for the first-time.

He said that the Tech Summit took place in clusters where there was strong participation, despite the pandemic.

Minister said that the Karnataka government has been invited by various countries participating in BTS 2021 for a visit to their country to strengthen investments ties.

He stated that the Sydney Conclave was a success, as the Indo-US Conclave saw interaction between the prime ministers from India and Australia, and the US Consul General at Chennai.

Narayan said that the 25th edition of the BTS (silver Jubilee), to be held between November 16-18, 2022, will be larger and more successful and will require all the preparations to ensure it is grander and more successful than previous editions.
