Bali, November 19, : , Two-time Olympic gold medallist PV Sindhu, and ex-world No.1 Kidambi Srikanth stormed to the semi-finals of the 2021 Indonesia Masters badminton tourney after they won their singles matches. In a match lasting 35 minutes, Sindhu defeated Turkey’s Neslihan Yagit 21-13 and 21-10.
In the semi-final, Akane Yamaguchi from Japan will face Akane Yamaguchi (top seed), at 26 years old.
Sindhu is making her second consecutive semi-final appearance at the BWF World Tour.She made it after last month’s French Open.
On that occasion, she had been defeated by Sayaka Takahashi from Japan.
Srikanth won an all-Indian match, beating HS Prannoy, the 2014 Indonesia Masters champion, 21-7, 21-18, in just 38 minutes.
Prannoy, who had beaten Viktor Axelsen (Tokyo 2020 gold medallist) from one game down in the previous round caused an upset.
Srikanth will face the winner in the semifinals of the match between youngster Kunlavut Vidsarn from Thailand and Anders Antonsen, reigning World Tour Finals Champion of Denmark.
Srikanth also makes this his second semifinal appearance on the BWF World Tour, following the Hylo Open.He lost to Lee Zii Jia in Malaysia.
