San Francisco, November 18, 2018 : .Apple announced its ‘Self Service Repair’ program, which allows users to repair their devices using an online tool and parts store. Self Service Repair is available first on the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 lines, followed soon by Mac computers with M1 chips.Self Service Repair will become an option in the US early next year and then expand into other countries during 2022.
Jeff Williams, Apple’s chief operating officer stated in a statement that “creating greater access to Apple genuine part gives our customers more choice if repair is required.”
These parts, manuals, and tools are available to customers who join over 5,000 Apple Authorized Service Providers and 2800 Independent Repair Providers.
This programme’s initial phase will concentrate on servicing the most common modules such as the iPhone battery, display and camera.Additional repairs may be possible later in the year.
It is important that customers read the Repair Manual before attempting to repair their device.Next, the customer places an order using the Apple Self Service Repair Online Store for genuine Apple parts and tools.
Customers who send in their damaged part to be repaired will get credit towards their next purchase
Customers will be able to repair the iPhone 12 or iPhone 13 most commonly using this new shop, which has more than 200 parts and tools.
