Kampala, November 16 : , Following several explosions close to their hotel, Gaurav Khanna-the chief coach for the Indian para badminton teams, stated Tuesday that all of them are’safe and well’.
The local police earlier had said that suicide bombers targeted Kampala, killing at least three people and injuring more than 30 others.

Local police had earlier stated that suicide bombers attacked Kampala killing at most three and injuring over 30 more.As per a BBC report, one blast took place near Parliament, with the other close to the city’s police headquarters.

According to a BBC report one explosion occurred near Parliament and the second was close to the police headquarters.

Soon after the incident, Para-Badminton India took to social media and said that players are safe.Para-Badminton India quickly took to social media shortly after the incident and declared that all players were safe.”Indian Team is Safe!There is multiple Bomb Blast 100 mtr away from the official Hotel,” it said in a tweet.It tweeted, “Indian Team Safe!”

Later in the day, coach Khanna also informed that the blasts happened around 100 metres away from the hotel and all players were safe and will stay put to finish the tournament.Coach Khanna informed the players later in the day that the explosions occurred about 100m from their hotel.

All of them were unhurt and they will continue the tournament.

“Our bus was about to leave for the badminton hall, when the blast took place.

The blast occurred as our bus was leaving for the badminton court.There was chaos in the street after the incident.

After the blast, there was chaos on the streets.But, we immediately went back inside and things are fine now,” Khanna told IANS.Khanna said that they immediately returned inside, and everything is fine now.”

He also mentioned that the blast won’t affect their preparations and the tournament will go as per schedule.The blast will not affect the preparations of the participants and that the tournament will proceed as planned.

Asked whether he received any message from India regarding their security assurance, the coach said that he got calls from Sports Authority of India (SAI), and Paralympic Committee of India (PCI) chief Deepa Malik.

When asked if he had received any messages from India about their security, the coach replied that he did.He also said that he was contacted by Deepa Malik (PCI chief) and Sports Authority of India(SAI).

My prayers with everyone affected by the attacks,” she said in a tweet.She sent a tweet saying, “My prayers for all those affected by these attacks.”

Indian para shuttlers Pramod Bhagat, Manoj Sarkar, Manasi Joshi and Sukant Kadam are in Kampala to play the tournament, which will end on November 21.Indian para-swimmers Pramod Bhagat and Manoj Sarkar, Manasi Joshuai, Sukant Kadam, are currently in Kampala for the tournament.It will conclude on November 21.
