The incident in which food security officials sealed an ice cream parlor selling liquor ice creams has come to light recently in Coimbatore district of Tamil Nadu.The cafe in the Lakshmi Mills area on Avinashi Road in Coimbatore district was sealed on Thursday for non-compliance with food hygiene standards and keeping liquor bottles in the shop.
Food security officials raided an ice cream parlour with information that alcohol ice creams were being sold.Authorities’ investigation has found that alcohol ice creams are in high demand among teenagers.Authorities also seized a parlor selling liquor ice creams and bottles of liquor from an ice cream parlour.The investigation revealed that the workers working in the cafe were not wearing hair caps, goggles, face masks and did not even have medical fitness certificates.Health Minister Subramaniam said the cafe license had been revoked.
