TS Excise dept sets up joint task force to crack down on Marijuana smuggling

Telangana Police-Excise Enforcement department decided to set up a joint task force to crack down on cannabis smuggling in the state.On Wednesday, CM KCR will conduct a key review with the police and excise departments to curb the supply of cannabis in the state.

Speaking on this occasion, respective authorities said they would announce a special operation to curb marijuana and drugs.Also, they said a joint task force could be set up as part of this.

The government hopes that the formation of this joint task force will increase surveillance of the cannabis supply chain.It is learned that this joint task force will be headed by a senior IPS officer.

However, officers and staff would be divided into two divisions, and then they would be taken on deputation.Officials believe that interstate drug cases can be easily cracked down through police surveillance systems.

The police and excise departments have registered nearly 1,200 cases of cannabis since the beginning of this year.Of these, more than 600 cases are mainly in Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda.

Hence, the TS govt decided to intensify the surveillance system in the state through the joint task force.
