Elections for Mandal Parishad Presidents (MPPs) across Andhra Pradesh will take place today.In addition to the MPP, there will be an election for one co-opted member for each constituency, and the vice president will also take place today.
Those elected as MPTC members within the constituencies will conduct the elections through voting.
Appropriate arrangements have been made by the Panchayati Raj Department officials in the districts along with the State Election Commission for holding special meetings at MPDO offices.
According to the quorum, if at least half of the newly elected MPTC members in the constituency are present, the election of the co-opted members along with the post of MPP and vice-president will continue, officials said.
All newly elected members, including those unanimously elected, will be sworn in special meetings, which will be held from 1 pm.A co-opted member for each constituency is then elected.Another meeting will be held at 3 pm, and firstly, MPP will be elected and then the Vice-President.
The election process will begin at 10 am.
If in any case, the election of Co-opted members has not been held then the next MPP and Vice Presidential elections in the respective constituencies will be postponed.
