The Ramappa Temple in Telangana has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.Recently, the Ramappa Temple received international recognition.

The decision was made by the UNESCO’s World Heritage Committee (WHC) at a virtual conference in China.

The Ramappa Temple is the first UNESCO World Heritage Site in both the Telugu States.

In 2019, UNESCO representatives visited the Ramappa Temple.It is the only temple to be nominated from India for the year 2020.

History says that the Ramappa Temple in Telangana was built over 800 years ago during the reign of the Kakatiyas in Palampeta, Mulugu District.Archaeologists say that the temple was built in 1213 AD, and it is a testament to the craftsmanship of the Kakathiya dynasty.

Ramappa temple is a hotspot of rare sculptures.The architecture of the Ramappa temple depicts the legacy of the Kakathiya dynasty.It is a Lord Shiva temple.People worship Lord Shiva as Ramalingeswara in this temple.

Ramappa temple is also known as the Kakatiya Rudreshwara Temple.Surprisingly, the temple was named after the sculptor, Ramappa, who built the temple.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi heaped praise on Telangana for the international recognition of the Ramappa Temple.
