The results of the Eluru Municipal corporation elections in the West Godavari district will be announced today.Authorities have made necessary arrangements for the counting of votes at the CR Reddy Engineering College in the suburbs of Eluru.
Officials are taking special measures to count the votes in two rounds simultaneously, on 47 tables abiding by the corona rules.City Commissioner D Chandrasekhar said that 47 counting supervisors, along with another 254 staff, would take part in the Eluru Corporation’s election counting duties.
Only one agent will be allowed along with the candidate into the counting centre.
Officials said that the counting of votes, which begins at 8 am, will be completed by noon.
The three divisions have already reached a consensus on the Eluru Municipal Corporation elections.Against this backdrop, elections were held for the remaining 47 divisions.
The counting of votes will be carried out today.
On Saturday, State election commissioner Neelam Sawhney visited the CR Reddy Engineering College.
She examined the counting halls and the arrangement of tables.She then discussed with the authorities and made several suggestions regarding the counting process.
District Collector Kartikeya Mishra briefed Neelam Sawhney on the steps taken for the counting of votes.SP Rahuldev Sharma said that Section 144 is in force in Eluru, and it lasts till the counting of votes ends.
