Union govt solely bears Rs 4,600 crore for ‘Greenfield Highway’: NHAI

The Union govt is all set to construct another national highway connecting Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.As per the reports, the road will cost around Rs 4.600 crore, and it covers 90 km.Currently, the land acquisition for the national highway is underway.The Union govt bears the entire cost for the project, and the Union govt named this project ‘The Greenfield Express Highway’.This national highway runs from Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh to Adilabad, Karimnagar and Warangal districts in Telangana.

In this context, the Revenue Department officials have started land acquisition in the Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh and Khammam district of Telangana.This project aims to reduce the traffic between Khammam and Vijayawada.

However, for the proposal to build a road lane parallel to the railway line, the authorities have prepared a report in 2018 and 2019.Officials said that this route could reduce 30 kilometres of distance when compared to the current highway.

The Greenfield road would be 90 km long, of which 30 km will be in the Krishna district, and 60 km will be in the Khammam district.NHAI officials said that the construction requires Rs 4,600 crore, and the central government will solely bear the cost.
