AP owes Rs 4,052 crore GST arrears, says Union Finance Ministry

The Union Finance Ministry said that Andhra Pradesh owes a total of Rs 4,052 crore in GST arrears.As MPs asked about the GST arrears of AP, the Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary has given a written reply to the MPs.As part of the Special Borrowing Plan, the GST Council has decided to provide Rs 1.10 lakh crore to the states for 2020-21 and Rs 1.59 lakh crore for the 2021-22 fiscal year.

Already, the union govt has released Rs 75,000 crore to the states on July 15.AP owes Rs 2,493 crore for the 2020-21 fiscal year and Rs 1,559 crore for the 2021-22 fiscal year.However, Telangana owes Rs 2,515 crore for 2020-21 and Rs 1,558 crore for 2021-22.

Recently, the AP govt made it clear to the High court that it has cleared all the arrears to the people under the Employment Guarantee Scheme.Counsel for the petitioners pointed out to the judge that some of the people received complete wages but some received partially.

Hence, the judge ordered them to find out who had not received the arrears.

On the other hand, YSRCP MPs protested in the parliament for ‘Special Status for AP’.
