The Andhra Pradesh High court division bench will today hear the arguments on the petition filed by the AP SEC challenging the ‘cancellation of Parishad polls in the state’ verdict given by the single bench.Telugu Desam Party leader Varla Ramaiah has approached the court alleging that the state election commission had given the notification for the Mandal and Zilla Parishad elections contrary to the Supreme Court’s order to impose four weeks of election code before the polling date.
Apart from this, the single judge heard the petitions filed by Janasena and BJP leaders and pronounced judgment.The single bench judge ruled that the counting should be cancelled and elections should be held again as the MPTC and ZPTC elections had not complied with the Supreme Court orders.
However, the state election commission has approached the division bench challenging the cancellation of the election given by the single bench.
The tribunal comprising of the divisional bench will hear petitions filed by the SEC today.
Clarity on the counting of ZPTC and MPTC elections will come with the judgment given by the High Court.
