AP govt decided to vaccinate stray dogs in the state

The Andhra Pradesh state government headed by Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy has decided to vaccinate all stray dogs in the villages against rabies.The Panchayati Raj Department has taken necessary steps to implement this vaccination program in coordination with the Department of State Animal Husbandry as part of rabies prevention and control measures.

This program includes measures to control the fertility of stray dogs, as well as vaccinating dogs against rabies.

The Panchayati Raj Department has directed the ZP CEOs and DPVOs of all districts to set up committees at the village and Mandal level to coordinate with the staff of the Animal Husbandry Department in the process of vaccinating the stray dogs.

It is reported that the authorities are planning to at least vaccinate 10 street dogs per day in the zone and at least 500 stray dogs in the district.

The Panchayati Raj Department directed to inform the office of the Commissioner from time to time of the progress of street dog vaccinations district-wise.

It is estimated that 72,000 people have been bitten by dogs across the state by 2020 and June 2021.
