Telangana High court gives shock to Etela in Devarayamjal temple lands case

The Telangana High Court has clarified that the government can survey the Devarayanjal lands without any objection.But, it instructed the government to issue a notice in advance to the petitioners before surveying the lands.

Sadha Keshavareddy has filed a petition in the high court seeking quashing of GO no: 1014 issued by the state government of Telangana setting up an IAS committee to survey the land in Devarayanjal.The High Court recently heard the petition and refused to suspend the execution of GO No: 1014.The High court said that the state government can freely survey the temple lands in the state.

The court held that it was the committee’s responsibility to investigate and report back to the court.

Considering the petitioner’s contention that they were coming and conducting a survey into the lands without giving notices, the High court directed the authorities to give notices to the petitioners before surveying the lands.

It advised giving advance notice if they sought to take any action against the petitioners.

The petitioners were directed to give the necessary files and information to the committee while authorities are surveying.The High court made it clear that if the petitioners do not cooperate, legal action can be taken.
