Telangana police have seized fake seeds being sold illegally in the state.Hyderabad North Zone police and Medak district agriculture officials raided warehouses in Medchal district and seized Rs 5.2 crore worth of paddy and maize seeds.

According to the police reports, Ravinder is selling fake paddy seeds under the name Fortune Agri Seeds and Srinivas Rao is selling fake maize seeds under the name SM Pakala Agritech.Authorities inspected the two warehouses and seized Rs 4.95 crore worth of paddy seeds and Rs 24 lakh worth of maize seeds.SP Rahul Hegde said four people were arrested for importing unlicensed seeds from other states and selling them in the Rajanna Sircilla district.

Similarly, police raided and seized 6.7 quintals of cotton seeds worth about Rs 12.14 lakh in the Jagithyala district.Venkateshwar and Lakshmi were absconding while the other four were arrested and remanded.Police arrested Morthala Nagireddy and Malreddy Saidireddy, who were selling fake chilli seeds in the Chintalapalem zone of Suryapeta district, and seized 290 seed packets, a bike and two cellphones worth Rs 7.25 lakh.Police kept strict surveillance on fake seeds sellers and are seizing fake seeds worth crores of rupees.
