A criminal case has been registered and a hefty fine has been imposed.

Obilisetti Satyanarayana of Kakinada in East Godavari district tested positive for corona and was admitted to Saisudha Hospital on May 14.He later died while receiving treatment.The victim’s family members later complained to the district authorities that Sai Sudha Hospital had collected Rs 14 lakh for covid treatment.

With this, the district officials have taken stern action after it was revealed that the hospital management had arbitrarily collected fees without complying with government regulations for covid treatment.Kakinada 3-town police have registered criminal cases against the hospital owner and a hefty fine was imposed.

The hospital management had reportedly collected a total of Rs 10.84 lakh from the victim family.The government fined seven times the hospital has charged from the hospital management.A total of Rs 75.780 lakh fine was collected.The hospital management then handed over the check for the cash to District Collector D.Muralidhar Reddy.In addition, Rs 10.84 lakh collected from the victim family was also returned to them.
