Kritika Shukla, Director of the Department of Women and Child Welfare, recently revealed in a statement that steps are being taken to rehabilitate children who have lost their parents due to coronavirus.She said that the AP government is taking this step to overcome children becoming orphans.
Many children who have lost their parents due to the second wave of Corona are becoming orphans.She said the state government had decided to reach out to such children and take steps for their rehabilitation by providing them with protection in child care centers as per the Juvenile Justice Act.
Krithika Shukla said that the toll-free numbers 181, 1098 are made available 24 hours a day.Anyone who wishes to provide information on such children can provide information and seek care and rehabilitation services.Also, there have been incidents where there is no one left to take care of the children when both parents were hospitalized due to corona.She said that those children can also be joined here until their parents reach home after recovering from the corona.
She explained that the government had also directed the district collectors of the respective areas to monitor the child protection activities and provide required services to them.
