Telangana CS inspects Covid outpatient services

Hyderabad, May 6 : Telangana Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar on Thursday visited an urban primary health centre in Hyderabad to see the functioning of the Covid outpatient services.

The state government has already launched Covid outpatient services in all the government hospitals, primary health centres and sub centres and across the state.

The chief secretary went around the urban primary health centre at Boggulakunta and enquired about the arrangements made for outpatient services.Doctors informed him that regular services are being provided in the health centre while Covid outpatient services are being provided in a community hall nearby.This is being done to avoid crowding.

Somesh Kumar stressed the need to focus on treatment of all patients by providing medical kits to all those who have symptoms and not to wait for test reports.

If the fever persists for more than four days then the patients should be administered steroids by which we can save people from breathlessness and hospital admissions etc, he observed.

The chief secretary was accompanied by secretary health S.A.M.Rizvi, commissioner Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Lokesh Kumar, Zonal Commissioner Pravinya, Director Public Health Srinivas Rao and other senior officials.

Somesh Kumar had said on Wednesday that the government is focusing on treatment of all those having Covid symptoms and for this purpose, health workers are conducting door to door survey.

Outpatient services in hospitals, PHCs and sub centres are also part of the outreach strategy.

The health authorities have also set up call centres in Greater Hyderabad and in all districts to address people’s queries about Covid and the treatment facilities.

The chief secretary also claimed that the Covid situation in the state is not only under control but the downward trend had started in new cases.He hoped that the situation would soon return to normal.

Somesh Kumar has been monitoring Covid situation on daily basis ever since Chief Minister K.Chandrasekhar Rao took over the health portfolio after dropping Eatala Rajender from cabinet following allegations that he encroached the lands of some farmers
