The warships INS Airawat and INS Talwar, which arrived in Singapore on the 2nd of this month, brought large quantities of medical oxygen to the Eastern Naval Base Visakhapatnam on Wednesday.

INS Talwar reached the coast of Visakhapatnam on Wednesday morning with 54 tonnes of liquid oxygen and later, the INS Airawat, the largest landing ship, brought a large quantity of oxygen from Singapore.

It carried 8 oxygen tankers with a capacity of 27 tons, as well as 3,600 oxygen cylinders, carrying large quantities of medical equipment for the treatment of Covid-19.

On the other hand, four empty tankers were sent to Bhubaneswar on an Indian Air Force flight on Wednesday to import oxygen from Odisha to Andhra Pradesh.

Medical oxygen will be loaded in tankers from Tata Steel and ASW Steel plants in Odisha through a filling station in Angur.The state government officials said that the tankers will then reach Vijayawada by road via the Green Channel.
