Telangana and AP will have plentiful of rains this year: IMD forecast

Indian Meteorological Department(IMD) officials have forecasted that there will be normal rainfall across the country and the southwest monsoon will enter India in a timely manner this year.Recently, the IMD revealed its first phase long-range forecasts, saying rainfall would be between 96 and 104 percent this year.

As far as the Telugu states are concerned, it will rain more in Telangana, more in Uttarandra in AP, less in Coastal areas, and more than normal in Rayalaseema.

The forecast was revealed by Dr.M.Rajeev, Secretary, Department of Geology, who participated in a recent event via video conference.He said there would be 98 percent long-term average rainfall between June and September.The southwest monsoon, which will hit south Kerala in the first week of June, will hit Kerala through a retreating monsoon from Rajasthan in September.

He said there were already normal conditions in the Pacific and Indian Oceans.

Dr.M.Rajeev said the chances of El Nino conditions this year were low, adding that the chances of dipole adverse conditions were even lower.He clarified that they will once again release their forecasts on the weather and rains in the last week of May.
