Andhra Pradesh State Chief Electoral Officer Vijayanand has said that all arrangements have been made for the Tirupati Lok Sabha by-election to be held on April 17 in strict compliance with the Covid rules.He reviewed the arrangements for the polling and made several suggestions.

He later told reporters at the secretariat that he had increased the polling time and the number of polling stations in view of Covid.

Polling will be held from 7 am to 7 pm.

Normally one polling booth will be set up for every 1,500 people, but in the wake of the corona, one polling booth will be set up for every 1,000 people, he said.A total of 2,410 polling booths were set up.

Vijayanand said that Section 144 would be in force in polling areas.Sanitation, masks, PPE kits, tents, and freshwater facilities have been set up at the polling stations to prevent the spread of the corona.

He said special arrangements were being made to bring people over 80 years of age and people with disabilities to the polling booths.He said 466 polling stations were identified as problematic and security arrangements were being made with the central security forces in those areas.

A total of 10,796 election personnel and 13,827 police personnel are involved in election duties.Vijayanand made it clear that volunteers should not be involved in election-related activities.
