People of Meghalaya have to pay for coronavirus test from October 16, says the Meghalaya government.

Deputy Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Prestone Tynsong has confirmed the news.He said the government has decided to withdraw free Covid-19 testing facility from October 16, and it applies to permanent and temporary residents who come for business purposes.

The decision has taken as there is no assistance from the central government while ICMR has also issued an order regarding this, said the Deputy CM.According to the information, RAT (Rapid Antigen Test) for Covid-19 is must for all who enter the state from October 16 and the test is priced at Rs 500.Additionally, it takes Rs 3,200 if Truenat, CBNAAT or RTPCR tests are needed.However, people under the BPL category and the people who carry the tested-certificates of Truenat, CBNAAT or RTPCR test within three days are exempted.

Meghalaya state official reports state that 7,037 positive coronavirus cases have registered so far.The active cases are marked at 2,371 while 4606 have recovered, and 60 died.Currently, the total cases in India have risen to 6.76 million.
