Akshay Kumar’s ‘Sooryavanshi’ and Ranveer Singh-starrer ’83’ which were scheduled to release in theaters earlier this year are the two most eagerly awaited Bollywood biggies to indefinitely postpone their releases because of the coronavirus outbreak.There were rumors floating around the social media yesterday that there will be a direct OTT release for both the movies.
On Sunday morning, Reliance Entertainment, the production house of these two upcoming big-ticket films gave clarity about this news and tweeted saying, “We are very confident the ongoing theatrical exhibition situation will improve much in time for the release of our awaited films Sooryavanshi and 83 this Diwali and Christmas, respectively.Looking ahead at celebrating the blockbusters in Cinemas with our audience everywhere.”
Reliance Entertainment CEO, Shibasish Sarkar, says, “We are 100% inclined to take theatrical route.However, at the same time, we don’t want to delay the release further than practically possible.That means we will not like to push release dates beyond Diwali / Christmas.So the first option is to go theatrical if cinemas open up and audiences are back.”
’83’ is directed by Kabir Khan which tells India’s first World Cup win under the captaincy of Kapil Dev in 1983 which stars Ranveer Singh as Kapil Dev.‘Sooryavanshi’, on the other hand, is yet another commercial outing from Rohit Shetty’s cop-universe which stars Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif in lead roles.Stay tuned for more updates!
