Harare, December 30, : .At least 77 victims were killed in road accidents involving more than 1,295 vehicles between December 15th and 27th this year. In the same time period, 2020 saw 1,216 deaths and 66 accidents.
Paul Nyathi, a spokesperson for the police, stated Wednesday that thirteen people were killed in 10 road accidents that occurred on Christmas Day.On the same day, 91 incidents were reported.59 persons were also injured.
He added that 12 more people were killed and 25 others were hurt in traffic accidents on December 26th.
Nyathi stated that most road traffic accidents occur on the highways due to speeding, negligence, recklessness, and inattention.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police reminds motorists to exercise caution and ensure road safety.He said that motorists have a shared responsibility for road safety and need to work together.
