The Telangana state government has decided to make the ponds in Hyderabad sewage-free.For this, the state government has already taken steps to set up STPs so that clean water can reach the ponds only after the sewage is treated.
The state government has given the green signal for the construction of 13 STPs across the city, of which seven STPs are to be set up in the Serilingampalle constituency, the IT hub.
With the completion of the clearance process, the Water Board STP Department, Revenue and Irrigation Departments, led by local MLA Arekapudi Gandhi, have intensified the land acquisition process.Preparations are underway to complete the acquisition of sites within the week and begin construction work on the STPs.
Speaking on this occasion, MLA Arekapudi Gandhi said, “We will set up STPs at seven ponds across the Serilingampalle constituency at Rs.404 crore.In this context, currently, the acquisition of lands process is underway.We will start construction work by the end of the month.” Also, he said, “With the installation of STPs, sewage will not enter the ponds.This will be a permanent solution to the problems of sewage, stench and mosquitoes in the city.”
