Bogota : , December 28, 2008 : .At least 7 people died and 28 were injured in the accident that occurred when a bus collided with a rock in San Luis, Colombia’s northwestern Antioquia municipality.
Eight of these victims are in critical condition.Local authorities reported the incident. According to Jaime Ramirez (Traffic and Highway Police Commander in Antioquia), the accident happened Monday morning.Hospital emergency networks were activated immediately and firefighters started to rescue victims.
Authorities reported that the bus was headed to Monitos, a municipality in Cordoba’s Caribbean region, according to Xinhua news agency.
Henry Suarez, San Luis Mayor said 22 injured people were taken to local medical facilities and six others to Puerto Triunfo.
Suarez stated that no clear information was available regarding the cause of this accident, and that an investigation was ongoing.
