Five new Rajya Sabha members swear in

New Delhi, Nov 29, : , Five new members took oath Monday in Rajya Sabha to begin the winter session.
Three of the five members come from the DMK, while one each comes from the Congress or Trinamool Congress.

All the new MPs took the oath in their native languages.Rajni Patil, a Congress candidate from Maharashtra, took the oath in Marathi.

Luizinho Falerio, a Trinamool Congress ticket holder from West Bengal, took the oath of office in Konkani.He hails from Goa.

The three DMK members took oaths in Tamil.They are Kanimozhi N.V.N.Somu, M.Mohamed Abdulla, and K.R.N.Rajesh Kumar.

The House also paid tribute to Oscar Fernandes who was a former member.Former MPs’ — K.B.Also, Shanappa Chandan Mitra Hari Singh Nalwa Monika Das Abani, Shanappa and Chandan Mitra, as well as Hari Singh Nalwa and Monika Das Abani, who all died between sessions, are remembered.

The House paid respects for the departed souls, and observed a two-minute silence as a sign of respect.

The Chairman directed the Secretary General, to send condolences to the families of the deceased.

In memory of Oscar Fernandes, a Congress MP who died recently from illness, the Rajya Sabha adjourned one hour.
