They described the experience and said that they continued digging for hours to escape the coal mine. They carried torches, which were very useful as it was completely dark inside the coal mine.

To keep the battery charged for longer periods of time, they lit one torch at time. After many hours of digging, they finally found a way out.

They all claimed that they drank the mine water to stay alive.

They had entered the Bokaro coal mine under Chandankiyari blocks at 9 a.m.on Nov 26 to extract illegally but became trapped in the mine shaft after it collapsed suddenly.

After fighting a battle with death for 90-hours, Laxman Rajwar and Ravana Rajwar, Bharat Sing, Anadi Singh and Anadi Singh were all able to emerge alive.

Many people from various villages in the area illegally mine coal from the coal block at Parvatpur, which has been closed for many years.

BCCL owns this coal block, but the company has stopped mining it for several years due to various reasons.

The four trapped people were alerted by the village and BCCL officials. The next day, i.e.On November 27, Bokaro Deputy Commissar Kuldeep Chaudhary, and SP Chandan Jha ordered an investigation into the matter.

BCCL also called the rescue team, but they declined to do anything due to the mine’s dangerous conditions.

A rescue team from NDRF arrived on Sunday 28 November and began the rescue operation. However, it failed.

Monday was Monday. The NDRF decided that they would excavate.

But, before they could, all four of them emerged from the mine on their own. This sent a wave of joy through the village.Amar Kumar Bauri, Chandankiyari MLA, and former minister also reached the spot after receiving this news. The locals refused to allow a medical team to visit the four of them for their health checks, so the team had no choice but to return.

Their families feared that the police might take action against them for illegal mining.

They claimed they had given up on all hope of making it alive.

But when they actually made it out, the news spread like a wildfire Monday morning and a wave swept through the area.
