Islamabad, Nov 28, : Four more people died from dengue fever in Pakistan’s eastern Punjab province in the last 24 hours.This brings the total to 137 deaths in this season, according to an official with the provincial Health department. Imran Sikandar (Secretary of the Primary and Secondary Healthcare Departments of Punjab) stated that 108 new cases were reported in the province within the last 24 hours.
He also stated that the province saw 24,744 cases from different regions during the September-November period, according to Xinhua news agency.
Urban areas of the province remained hotspots for the disease, including Lahore, the provincial capital.It also reported 82 of 108 new cases in the last 24 hours.
Over the past few days, there has been a decrease in daily new cases.The number of cases dropped to less 200 from the previous total of over 500.
The decrease in cases of the disease has been attributed to the consistent preventive and curative activities carried out by the provincial Health department.
