4.91L AP farmers get Rs 366 crore

Jagan Mohan Reddy-led Andhra Pradesh government has credited input subsidy of Rs.366 crores into 4.91 lakh farmers’ bank accounts.The government transferred the amount through Real-Time Gross Settlement, which is a first of its kind according to the officials, for crops damaged during the October rains in Andhra Pradesh.Accordingly, the move will help the farmers to gather seeds, fertilisers and pesticides, and cover up their loses.

Horticulture additional director K.Balaji Naik said the state government released input subsidy directly to farmers as a first of its kind.They can raise crops again to cover up their loss as they suffered to a greater extent due to natural calamities.

Reportedly, the state government allocated an input subsidy of Rs.15,000 per hectare for paddy, cotton, sugarcane.An amount of Rs.12,500 for maize; Rs.10,000 for pulses, wheat and tobacco; Rs.6,800 for jowar and castor; Rs.5,000 for korra and mustard; Rs.12,200 for sand casting, and Rs 37,500 for soil erosion.

According to the official reports, the estimated crop loss is at 31,250 hectares due to heavy rains and floods from April to October 2020.

Nearly 70,932 farmers have affected due to natural calamity.
