New Delhi : , Wednesday 23 November, 2009 – A three-day Himachal Pradesh BJP state executive meeting will start on Wednesday.It is to address the reasons behind the party’s loss in the state’s October 30 bypolls.The results were announced on Tuesday. The bypolls saw the Bharatiya Janata Party lose all three constituencies of the assembly and one Lok Sabha seat, to the opposition Congress.
According to a senior leader of the party, the Himachal Pradesh BJP Executive will meet here for three days starting November 24, according to a source.
Core group meeting to be held tomorrow (Wednesday).
Meetings of the extended core group as well as state office bearers and their members will take place on November 25.He said that a meeting will take place on November 26 with Himachal BJP’s state executive.”
A senior leader of the party said that the BJP’s state executive will meet to discuss the reasons behind its defeat in by-polls from three constituencies and one Lok Sabha.
In the By-Polls for all three Himachal Pradesh assembly seats — Fatehpur and Jubbal Kotkhai — the Congress was victorious.
Jubbal-Kotkhai: Neelam Selamik, BJP’s candidate, came in third place behind Chetan Bragta (rebel candidate).He was the former chief of Himachal Pradesh IT Department and is also the son of Narendra Bragta who was a former minister from Himachal Pradesh.
According to sources, Avinash Rai Khanna (state in-charge), Himachal Pradesh Chief minister Jai Ram Thakur and former Chief Minister Prem Kul Dhumal will be attending the meeting.Anurag Thakur is a union minister and Lok Sabha member.
The three-day meeting will be chaired by Suresh Kumar Kashyap, chief of Himachal Pradesh BJP.
According to reports, the BJP state leadership will likely discuss corrective steps keeping in mind next year’s Himachal Pradesh assembly elections.
By-polls show there’s a disconnect between the people and government.A senior leader stated that the meeting will see the state leadership finalise their public outreach programme.
