Galle, Nov 29, : , After losing the first Test against Sri Lanka by 187 runs, West Indies will be trying to bounce back in the second match at the Galle International Stadium.It starts on Monday.
West Indies were bowled out for 160 by the West Indies in the second innings.They will be looking for a much better performance.

Both the West Indies’ bowlers and batters left much to be desired in their first match.Both innings saw the visitors lose their first six wickets in a span of 54 and 18 runs, respectively.

They will take positives into the next match, with the spinners taking 13 out of the 14 wickets while the lower order showed some grit throughout both innings.

Sri Lanka, however, was able to tick almost all the boxes in its first Test.

Dimuth Karunaratne was the leader with a century-and-a-half in the first innings, while the spinners kept the Windies batters in tangles all the way through the game.

Sri Lanka will attempt to whitewash their field and extend their lead in the ICC World Test Championship standings.They currently hold the first spot.

The Sri Lankan spinners took down the West Indies’ batting in both innings, helping Sri Lanka to take a 1-0 lead during the two-match Test series.

Captain Dimuth Karunaratne chose to bat first and his rich vein of form continued with 147 runs in the first innings.As Sri Lanka posted 386 runs in the first innings, he was well supported by Pathum Nissanka and Dhananjaya De Silva, both fifties.

West Indies were then bundled out for 230.At one point, West Indies were at 100/6.However, vital contributions from the lower orders helped them reduce their lead to 156.Praveen Jayawickrama picked four wickets, while nine were taken by spinners.

Half-centuries were scored by Angelo Mathews and Karunaratne in the second innings.Sri Lanka declared at 191 and Windies set a target of 348.

West Indies’s chase started badly.They collapsed and were reduced by 18/6 late in the fourth day.Ramesh Mendis took four.Nkrumah Bonner, Joshua Da Silva and a 100-run partnership resisted the inevitable.

Lasith Embuldeniya quickly ran through the remainder of the lower order, completing a five-for as Sri Lanka won with 187 runs.
