Islamabad, Nov 30, : Police said that at least 20 people were hurt Tuesday morning when 30 vehicles were piled up in dense fog at three locations in Pakistan. Local media were told by a police official that vehicles piled up on the M-2 motorway at Kala Shak Kaku and Qila Satar Shah areas in Sheikhupura, eastern Punjab province, because of dense fog.
Several cars collided on M-1 motorway in country’s northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province due to dense fog.This caused more than six injuries, Xinhua news agency reported.
Police and rescue teams raced to the scene and transferred the injured to nearby hospitals.
Local media quoted hospital officials as saying that at least 10 of those injured sustained serious injuries and were being treated in the intensive care units.
According to police, the accidents occurred when visibility on roads was reduced sharply by dense fog.After the accidents, all traffic was stopped from entering motorways.
