Washington 19th August : Many people were thought to be dead after two planes collided during an attempt to take off in Watsonville, California, authorities declared. The accident occurred around 2.56 p.m.on Thursday, at the Watsonville Municipal Airport and multiple agencies were on the scene around 3.37 p.m., Xinhua news agency quoted Watsonville authorities as saying.
Single-engine Cessna 152 and a twin-engine Cessna 340 collided while the pilots were making their final approach to the airport, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) declared in an initial statement.
One person was aboard the Cessna 152 and two people on board the Cessna 340.
There were no injuries reported to anyone who was on the ground, as per the report.
The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will conduct an investigation.
The NTSB will be in charge of the investigation and will provide further information, the agency said.
No agency has identified the those involved in aviation accidents.
