Gurugram, Nov 25, : Gurugram’s Municipal Corporation (MCG) has issued 162 people a fine for not following the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) by the Environment Pollution (Prevention and Control) Authority. After being found guilty of burning garbage, throwing debris, carrying-out dust-blowing activities and spreading garbage, they were fined.
They were fined a total of Rs 17.14 lakh.
These penalties include Rs 4.95 Lakh challans against 44 people who throw debris, Rs 8.32 Lakh challans against 70 people who blow dust, and Rs 1.20 Lakh challans against 19 people who dump garbage.
Apart from that, 12 people were hit with Rs 76,000 challans for uncovered construction material, garbage, and debris transport.9 people were also subject to Rs 1.51 lakh challans for construction activities.5 persons were charged Rs 25,000 for burning tandoor, and 3 persons were charged Rs 15,000 for burning garbage.
“Division- and zone-wise teams are working together to ensure that GRAP is maintained in the MCG region.”Those who violate the GRAP are being monitored and challans made in accordance with the rules of those involved in pollution-enhancing activities are being made,” Mukesh Kumar Ahuja (Commissioner, MCG) said.
To prevent dust from getting into the air, water is being sprinkled on roads and trees.
“A total of thirty tankers and eight fire engines have been engaged in this task.
The sprinkling is done with the treated water from the sewerage treatment plants.He said that 13 sweeping machines and 13 sweeping machines were in operation in the area.
