Bhubaneswar : , Nov 22, 2018 – Hockey fever grips the country as sixteen teams compete for the top honors in the FIH Hockey Junior World Cup Bhubaneswar 20,21.The competition will begin November 24, and conclude on December 24. Each team in each pool should aim to place in the top half.The top two pools from each pool will then qualify for the quarterfinal.
The European heavyweights Belgium and Chile will be competing in Pool A against South Africa, Chile, Malaysia and Chile.
The defending champions India, France and Poland are all placed in Group B.They arrived in this country to compete for the title.
India’s captain Vivek Sagarprasad will lead the charge to keep the trophy.
Vivek said that “our team was champions in 2016, and our team is now aiming to continue performing in the same manner.” Vivek participated in India’s bronze-medal winning performance in Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
While we didn’t have any overseas competition, our team did some games against senior Bhubaneswar players, which proved to be very valuable.We have been trying to get used to the stadium since our arrival in Bhubaneswar.It is truly incredible to see the Kalinga Hockey Stadium.”It’s great that we get to train here before our start,” India’s chief coach Graham Reid said about the preparations of his team.
India’s campaign against France will start on November 24,
The USA, Spain, Korea, and Netherlands will be at odds in Pool C.In Pool D, Germany, Pakistan and Egypt will face each other.
South Africa will face Belgium in the opening game, which takes place on November 24,
