15 first-time juvenile offenders in Chennai received driving instruction

Chennai 9 August : The Greater Chennai Police has commenced the 30-day driving school for 15 teenagers who were involved in first-time offenses.
They are receiving driving instruction in the Institute of Road Transport (IRT) in Taramani and 50 days in Tiruvallur.

The program, which officially got started on Monday, forms a component of the Personal Attitude Reformation Assistance Venture Affirming Identity or Paravai scheme of the state government, which is part of its flagship Carrier Guidance Programme.

Daily allowances, including small remuneration as well as travel allowance to participate in the program at Taramani are also given to the children.

The Paravai program is a flagship program of the government of the state, aims to help people who have been first time offenders in the age bracket of 18-24.

The plan proposed by the social welfare department of the state began operation in March 2022.

As part of the program, children will receive legal aid, training in the field and even help in finding work.

The goal of the program is to help first-time offenders integrate into the mainstream and to stop them from entering the world of criminality.
