He is still a hero in Bengaluru, Karnataka, many years after his martyrdom.His photograph is prominently displayed at major auto stands, many junctions and many bus shelters in Bengaluru.

You can also see his cutouts and posters in all major urban areas in the state.

Bengaluru also has a major arterial road named after him.

31-year-old Indian braveheart gave his life to fight Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists.He has since become a symbol for inspiration, patriotism, and sacrifice.

His family in Bengaluru proudly looks forward to the inauguration of their son’s bust at Kannamangala army bases in Bengaluru on November 28th, the day he made the ultimate sacrifice for his country.

Unnikrishnan (his father), a former ISRO officer, said to IANS: “I look forward to the event because it is organized by army personnel.Sandeep Unnikrishnan is a part of this group.Jawans and lieutenant generals will attend the function.”

He stated that it was a beautiful bronze monolithic bust.It will be a private event on November 28, the anniversary of Sandeep Unnikrishnan’s martyrdom.

He stated that the public response and government has only grown over the past 13 years.

The second floor of Unnikrishnan’s residence was converted into a museum that housed all his army belongings, including his uniform.People used to wait in line to see the hero’s belongings, and pay their respects to him.It has been closed.

His father stated that he had banned public access to the archive and added that he doesn’t like the way photos are being posted on social media.

His father proudly recalls his son’s winning attitude and how he liked Sachin.Although he was disappointed that India lost, he used to console his father when an ISRO project failed.

Sandeep Unnikrishnan was always there to help his fellow soldiers financially and cared about them.The parents didn’t know about his charitable nature until his colleagues shared it with them.”He got a decent salary but there wasn’t much money in the account.His father stated that Sandeep was donating to many charitable organizations.

Sandeep Unnikrishnan’s last message to terrorists while he was carrying out an operation to eliminate them was “Don’t come down, I will handle them.” The army and his fellows still treasure the courage of the young NSG commando, although he soon gave up fighting terrorists.

On January 26, 2009, he was awarded the Ashok Chakra, which is the highest award for peace-time gallantry in the country.
